Competitions

All entries should reflect the theme of ‘Celebrations/Dathlu. There are two competition areas – Literature and Arts. The short story and poetry  judge this year will be Jo Verity who is a previous winner of the competition and is now a published author. The Welsh novel will be judged by well-known author (and our patron) Catrin Collier. The Art judge will be announced shortly. All prizes will be presented on the opening night of the exhibition, Saturday 13th October at the Nazareth Centre Abertridwr.

Literature Competition

There are three categories – short stories with a maximum word count of 3,500  poetry with a maximum of 60 lines, and a novel set in Wales for which you should submit the first chapter and a synopsis.

Entry fees for over 18’s: Short stories £1.50 each or three for £3; Poetry £1 each or £2 for three

Pleas note we are unable to return any literature entries. Cheques should be payable to ‘Undercurrents’.

Arts

The categories this year are Art, Photography, 3D Art, and Textiles. No entry should exceed 36 inches in any direction.

Over 18’s entry fee: £2 per entry with a maximum of 3 entries per person.

Under 18’s entry is free and prizes will also be awarded to this group.

All entries must be delivered to the Nazareth Centre, Abertridwr between 12 noon and 8pm on Thursday 11th October 2010, and should be clearly labelled with title and name on the reverse.

We have very limited storage space so all work must be collected on Sunday 21st October between 12 noon and 4pm. Uncollected work will be disposed of 28 days after notification by post.

20% commission applies to sale of work. Work sold will be available at the end of the exhibition.

While we will do our utmost to safeguard all entries they are left at owner’s risk.
